Keystroke Dynamics is a behavioral biometric, this means that the biometric factor is ‘something you do’. It is the detailed timing information that describes exactly when each key was pressed and when it was released as a person is typing at a computer keyboard. It is the process of analyzing the way a user types at a terminal by monitoring the keyboard inputs thousands of times per second in an attempt to identify users based on habitual typing rhythm patterns. Keystroke Dynamics is part of a larger class of biometrics known as behavioral biometrics; their patterns are statistical in nature.
