Advocacy is the act of “taking a position on an issue, and initiating actions in a deliberate attempt to influence private and public policy choices. Health advocacy entails advocacy by a community around issues related to health, however that community is defined or formed. It encompasses direct service to the individual or family as well as activities that promote health and access to health care in communities and the larger public.
