Functional neuroimaging is using neuroimaging technology to measure an aspect of brain function, often with a new view to understanding the relationship between activity in a few brain areas along with specific mental characteristics. It is primarily used as a research tool inside cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and societal neuroscience.
