Financial security is a tradable financial asset and advantage. It is commonly used to mean any sort of financial instrument, however the legal definition of any “security” varies by legal and regulatory jurisdiction. In some jurisdictions the word specifically excludes financial instruments apart from equities and fixed income instruments. In certain jurisdictions it consists of some instruments which are close to equities as well as fixed income, instance; equity warrants.
