Federated Identity is the means of linking a person’s electronic identity and attributes, stored across multiple distinct identity management systems. It is allow to registered users of a certain domain to access information from other domains in a smooth way without having to provide any extra administrative user information. It is an arrangement that can be made among multiple enterprises that lets subscribers use the same identification data to obtain access to the networks of all enterprises in the group. Federated Identity can be achieved in several different ways, which include SAML specification, OpenID, Higgins trust framework and information cards.
