The Equal Opportunity Act refers to an act that was passed by the Victorian government in April 2010 and adopted the name ‘Equal Opportunity Act 2010’ in a bid to strengthen discrimination laws in Victoria. The term “equal opportunities” upholds the idea that all workers within an organisation should be entitled to and have access to all of the organisations facilities at every stage of employment, including the pre-employment phase. The equal opportunities act is concerned with ensuring equal opportunities in employment on the basis of relevant merits, skills and competency.
