The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum was established in 1989. Its prime principle is to aid economic growth and affluence in the region, with the image of creating a seamless regional economy. APEC pursues these objectives through trade and investment liberalization, business facilitation, and economic collaboration. Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation aims to support regional economic integration by removing barriers to trade and investment “at the border”, attractive supply chain connectivity “across the border” and improving the business surroundings “behind the border”.
