A vertical market is strongly focused on meeting the requirements of one definite industry. Vertical markets are focused on a particular niche, such as creating payroll software for start-up Internet corporations. A horizontal market, by evaluation, is able to sell its merchandise and services in other than one industry, and is consequently focused on a wider variety of business segments.
