Urban density is a term used inside urban planning and urban design to refer to how many people inhabiting certain urbanized area. As such it shall be distinguished from some other measures of human population density. Urban density is considered heavily weighed in understanding exactly how cities function. Research of urban density comes about across diverse places, including economics, innovation, psychology and geography as well as sustainability.
