High on Life, a funny space shooter by Squanch Games, recently received an update that added some useful new features as well as fixes for a number of bugs. This latest patch for the irreverent shooter was released only a few days after it was reported that Justin Roiland, the co-creator of Rick and Morty and CEO of Squanch Games, had been charged in California with felony domestic abuse.
High on Life was made available on Xbox Game Pass as a day-one release, which immediately increased the profile of the hilarious sci-fi shooter, even though Squanch Games had enjoyed considerable success with its earlier games, such as the VR-focused Trover Saves the Universe. High on Life, a December 2022 release that was unique to PC and Xbox consoles, earned favorable reviews from both gamers and critics. The unusual mash-up of Rick and Morty and Star Wars: Bounty Hunter won over players looking for something distinctly different from the military shooters that dominate the genre, even though a steady stream of childish humor and the constant jabs from High on Life’s talking guns turned some players off from the game.
