A True Friendship

Friendship means a beautiful bonding between two or more people. In every relation, everything is not available but in friendship, you get everything i.e. trust, understanding, love, honesty, loyalty, responsibility, company, knowledge, etc, if friendship is a true friendship. Friendship is a relation of giving and take. Everybody wants good friendship but nobody is ready to give good friendship. That is why now a day’s friendship has become only a selfish motto either it is a selfless motto. Having a good friend is fortunate but being a good friend is more fortunate and more happiness.

According to Stoic philosophy, the human tribe has established three different types of friendships, they are – Friendships of Utility, Friendships of Pleasure, and Friendships of The Good. A true friend is not one who repeatedly is telling us negative things other people say about us. First, they make it clear by their words and by their actions where they stand when it comes to us. Secondly, they don’t just merely standby silently when others are tearing us down no matter what consequences they may face socially. A true friend is a friend when is convenient and when it is not. They standby us consistently both when we are present and when we are not. Fake friends feel jealous and contemptuous when we achieve something exciting in our lives, but true friends will celebrate your accomplishments with us. To know if we are dealing with an authentic friendship or not, just notice who sticks around when we reach new heights in our life. Some people will try to tear us down, but the real friends in our life will feel happy for us.

I think the best thing and the best part for the true friendship is listening. One should know or learn ‘The Art of Listening’. Everybody wants to speak but nobody wants to listen that is why we have lots of friends but no good friend. First, listen completely then speak. Don’t speak in between. A true friend must have the quality of motivating. Life is a journey full of happiness and challenges. Some people say that true friendship can’t be long-lasting. This is totally wrong; True friendship can be long-lasting if we stop making fun, true friendship can be long-lasting if we shut our mouth sometimes, true friendship can be long-lasting if we stop playing an inferior or superior game, status game, true friendship can be long-lasting if we stop blaming each other and remove the ego. True friendship can be long-lasting if we stop talking at each other back and moreover true friendship can be long-lasting if given proper time and attention to each other, having faith and respect and better know each other deeply. True friendship is one that is not based on utility or pleasure, but rather mutual respect, admiration, and gratitude of the other person. This type of friendship is one that must grow over time. Friendship is both good and necessary. Man cannot live all alone. He is a social being. He needs someone to share his joys and sorrows. Generally, it is only people of similar age, character, and background, mentality, etc., who can understand him and his problems. Friends are needed for support and for sharing. True friendship is built on shared principles and shared virtues. This is the kind of friendship that can become stronger with time.
