The Series A deal that launched a near unicorn: Meet Accel’s Steve Loughlin and Ironclad’s Jason Boehmig

Only those who truly understand the relationship are in it. Luckily for us, we’re going to have a clear conversation with both sides about the relationship between Ironclad CEO and co-founder Jason Boehmig and his investor and board member Axel partner Steve Loughlin.

Loughlin led Ironclad to a Series A deal in 2017, making it his first Series A deal since his return to Axel. This episode of Extra Crunch Live airs at 3pm EST / 12pm PST on Wednesdays, just as usual.

I will talk to them about how they got together, how they “chose” each other and how they managed as a couple. How they have built trust, maintained integrity and negotiation strategy is also on the table as part of the discussion. Before Loughlin became an investor, he was an entrepreneur, founding Relative (an Accel-backed company) in 2011. The company acquired Salesforce in 2014 for $390 million and later became IQ in sales. Loughlin then “returned home” to Axel in 2016 and led investments in companies such as Airkit, Ascend.io, Clockwise, Ironclad, Monte Carlo, Nines, Productive, Split.io and Vivun.

Not surprisingly, General Boehmig is a banned California attorney who practiced law at Fenwick and West and a professor of law at Notre Dame Law School. Ironclad was launch in 2014 and today the company has raised more than $180 million and, according to reports, is worth just under $1 billion.

Not only will we unveil how this investor / founder relationship works, but also we will hear from these two technology leaders about their thoughts on the large enterprise trends in the ecosystem. Then, it is time for the pitch deck teardown. In each episode of Extra Crunch Live, we look at the decks submitted by the audience and our experienced guests give their live feedback. If you want to throw your deck into the ring, submit your deck for a future episode.

In addition to what we do here at TechCrunch, members of the audience can also ask their own questions.

Extra Crunch Live has left a place in your network (you need to network to work, Emirate?). Networking will begin at 2:30 pm EST / 11: 30: P.PST and is open half an hour after the end of the episode. Make friends!

As a reminder, Extra Crunch Live is the only one-member series whose goal is to provide functional advice and insights to all leaders in the technology industry from founders and technology operators. If you are not yet an additional Crunch member, what are you waiting for?

Gaurav Gupta of Loughlin and Boehmig Lightspeed’s and Raj Dutt of Grafana’s, as well as additional Crunch Live speakers, including Kevin Busch of Felicis’ Aiden Senkut and Guideline, have joined a great cast. Extra Crunch members will be able to catch each episode as per the demand of Extra Crunch Live here.
