Terminal illness is an ailment that cannot be cured or sufficiently treated and that is sensibly predictable to consequence in the death of the patient within a short period of time. This term is more usually used for progressive diseases such as cancer or sophisticated heart disease than for trauma. In admired use, it indicates an illness that finally ends the life of the sufferer.
