Service learning provides students immediate opportunities to make use of classroom learning to aid or enhance the effort of local businesses that often exist to effect positive change in the neighborhood. The National Children’s Leadership Council defines service learning since “a philosophy, pedagogy, and model with regard to community development which is used as an instructional technique to meet learning goals or content expectations.”
