The intellectual movement of Renaissance Italy has been humanism. The humanists believed that the Greek and Latina classics contained both the many lessons one required to moral and effective life along with the best models to get a powerful Latin design. Renaissance humanism was a reply to the functional approach and what was depicted as the “narrow pedantry” linked to medieval scholasticism.
