Price Hike in Bangladesh
Price hike means the increase in the price of the essential commodities in the market. The price hike has now become a very common problem not only in Bangladesh but also all over the world. Recent price-hike or rising prices of essential commodities is the most talked issue in Bangladesh. The prices of essential commodities are going out of the reach of the poor people of our country. Not only the poor but also the middle-class people have become the victim of sky-high prices of essential commodities. Protests fueled with rage prevailed even just a few weeks ago when the price of onions in Bangladesh reached such level that even the rich people were afraid to buy it, let alone the poor people. It is considered one of the major problems in our country.
To be frank, people in our country would find it as normal nowadays: the lasting effects of the price hike in our country. There are many reasons of price-hike. The main reason is the rapid growth of the population. At the same time, cultivable land is decreasing. As result food crops are not being produced in proportion to the growth rate of the population. It spans from foods to accommodation, education, health treatments, etc: in short, all the necessities for the citizens. So there is always a shortage of rice, fish, milk, vegetables, and all other necessary things. When these things are not supplied as per demand .their prices increase. With the increase in prices of the essential commodities the sufferings of the poor people increase. They can not even eat two square meals a day. They suffer from malnutrition. Abnormal price hike tends to happen for numerous reasons. The real scenario of Bangladesh needs to be carefully understood in order to understand the abnormal price hikes. The dishonest businessmen always lie in wait to make a profit. In a time of harvest, they buy things at a cheap rate and later on create an artificial crisis in the market, and as a result, prices increase. Syndicates of suppliers and sellers decide to create a shortfall. Most of the time, it happens because of poor government regulation. The businessmen from evil syndicate with a view to making profits. Smuggling and black marketing are also responsible for price- hike. Corruptions of such levels get unpunished many times, which fuels the continuity of the works. The shortage of supply in the entire country is also a reason. The govt. is unable to monitor and control the market. By controlling the market, prices of essential commodities can be brought, down. It is true that the international economy exercises an influence on price-hike to a great extent.
The effects of the price hike fall mostly on the poor and middle-income people of anywhere. We would find it on the things we need in our daily life. Considering the sufferings of the poor and lower-class people govt. should take proper action against the dishonest businessmen who raise the prices with a view to making the profit only. The people should be made aware of the evil designs of the black sheep of the country. Price hikes of basic foods will not leave people looking for options, as strong habits of consumption do not change much. The people must help the government to control markets. Black marketeers should be given exemplary punishment. As a whole prices of essential commodities should be brought down by any means. Otherwise, the sufferings of the people cannot be removed. Businessmen also should come forward to ensure the proper distribution of commodities. Finally, all of us should come forward to solve the problem. So it is imperative for us to control the prices of essential commodities.
