Temperature a measure of the average speed at which molecules are moving or vibrating. Air temperature is the rate of motion of gas molecules in the atmosphere as a result of the absorption of energy; it measured by a thermometer. It is the most commonly measured weather parameter. More specifically, temperature describes the kinetic energy, or energy of motion, of the gases that make up air.
