Pluralism is a doctrine that there is more than one reality, while realism holds there is but one simple fact, that may have got single objective ontology or plural ontology. A single form, it is a doctrine that many substances exist, in contrast using monism which holds existence as a single substance, typically either matter or mind (idealism), and dualism believes two substances, such as matter and brain, to be essential.
