Nuclear pulse propulsion is usually a theoretical method of spacecraft propulsion which uses nuclear explosions regarding thrust. Nuclear pulse propulsion or outside pulsed plasma propulsion, is a hypothetical method of spacecraft propulsion which uses nuclear explosions regarding thrust. It was first developed as Challenge Orion by DARPA, after a suggestion by Stanislaw Ulam inside 1947.
