The idea of network society was coined in Norwegian through Stein Braten within his book Modeller av menneske og samfunn (1981). Network society is the expression coined in 1981 linked to the social, politics, economic and cultural changes a result of the spread involving networked, digital info and communications technologies. The network society goes beyond the information society which is often proclaimed.
