What is a Motor?

Major objective of this lecture is to present on What is a Motor? Motor is a device that changes electrical energy to mechanical energy that can do work. A simple motor has six parts: Armature or rotor; Commutator; Brushes; Axle; Field magnet; DC power supply of some sort. While both A.C. and D.C. motors serve the same function of converting electrical energy into mechanical energy, they are powered, constructed and controlled differently.
