Acute kidney failure also called severe renal failure or severe kidney injury. Develops quickly over a few hours or a few days. Acute kidney failure is most familiar in people who are already hospitalized, mainly in seriously ill people who need intensive care. Acute kidney failure can be serious and requires concentrated treatment. However, acute kidney failure may be reversible.
