Intelsat Galaxy 37/Horizons-4 Satellite Launched Successfully

Intelsat, the operator of the world’s largest integrated satellite and terrestrial network and a leading provider of in-flight connectivity, announced the successful launch of Galaxy 37/Horizons-4 (G-37/H-4), breaking a commercial satellite industry record by launching eight geostationary satellites into space in less than ten months.

“This launch completes our comprehensive Galaxy fleet refresh plan, which we started about 10 months ago,” said Intelsat CEO Dave Wajsgras. “This achievement is now part of the 40-year Galaxy legacy, which includes satellites on which our North American customers have relied for decades.” It also marks the 20th anniversary of our JSAT collaboration. This collaboration has enabled both organizations to offer more customers in more locations across the world.”

The Maxar-built satellite took off on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 1:00 a.m. EDT. At 1:33 a.m. EDT, G-37/H-4 separated from the vehicle, and Intelsat confirmed signal acquisition at 1:37 a.m. EDT.

The G-37 C-Band payload will give capacity to North American broadcast media and telecommunications network clients. The H-4 Ku-band payload will be held jointly by Intelsat and JSAT International, the U.S.-owned subsidiary of SKY Perfect JSAT Corp., and will guarantee continuity for our mobility, network, and U.S. government clients.
