English now an international language. It is essential in every sphere of life. The world has now become a global village. Different nations have come closer to one another and they have to make communication with one and other. For this communication a common language is necessary. And English has got that position of a global language. People all over the world use this language as a medium of communication. Therefore in order to keep pace with the advancement of civilization and maintain the international relationship we should learn English. It is the official language of international organizations like UNO, ADB, World Bank; Olympic committee, etc. 400 million people around the world speak English as their first language. Not only that, but English is listed as one of the official languages in more than a quarter of the countries in the world. More than 80% of all the information in the world’s computers is in English. Without knowing English no one can step into international areas. Many organizations need employees who have a good knowledge of English. So for a good job, knowledge of English is necessary. English is the rest of the world’s “second language”. Nowadays many people believe that English will help them get a good job and better salaries. Learning English makes it much easier to travel anywhere people want. For example, airplane announcements, train timetables, emergency information, and street signs are often translated into English, particularly in countries that use a different type of alphabet. Almost all the books in different branches of science and technology are either written or translated in English. So English is a must for higher education and international communication. In fact, if anybody wants to get higher education in science and technology in any other subject in a foreign university, needs knowledge of English.
