Feeding Tube

Feeding Tube

Feeding Tube is a relatively simple surgery, but it is only recommended for complex conditions. If a person is having ongoing and serious trouble swallowing and can’t get enough food or liquids by mouth, then a feeding tube may be put directly into the stomach through the abdominal skin. A variety of feeding tubes are used in medical practice. They are usually made of polyurethane or silicone. The most common types of tubes include those placed through the nose, including nasogastric, nasoduodenal, and nasojejunal tubes, and those placed directly into the abdomen, such as a gastrostomy, gastrojejunostomy, or jejunostomy feeding tube.
