Digital printing describes methods of printing from the digital-based image directly to a range of media. It usually describes professional printing where small-run jobs through desktop publishing along with other digital sources are printed using large-format or even high-volume laser or even inkjet printers. Digital printing is often used for printing business cards, letterheads, envelopes and folders as these are commonly used by large institutions. Digital printing incorporates a higher cost every page than far more traditional offset printing methods, but this price is frequently offset by avoiding the price of all the technical steps needed to make printing dishes.
