Book Value is the value in which an asset is carried on a balance sheet. To calculate, take the price of an asset without the accumulated depreciation. It does not take net asset value of the company, calculated by total assets subtracting intangible assets (patents, goodwill) along with liabilities. In accounting, book value is the value of an asset as outlined by its balance sheet account balance.
