In accordance law, the informal black letter law includes the basic principles of regulation generally accepted because of the courts or embodied from the statutes of a certain jurisdiction. In common law, black letter law is the well-established technical legal rules which are no longer at the mercy of reasonable dispute. Examples are the “black-letter law” involving contracts or this “black-letter law” involving trademarks. Black letter law may be contrasted with appropriate theory or unsettled legalities.
