Poor playwrights think it was not so bad that the world’s theaters closed for most of the epidemic; they now have to deal with the idea of Artificial Intelligence (AI) taking over their work. A play written entirely by AI – after a brief human intervention to inform the basic setup of the algorithm – debuted on stage for the first time. The 60-minute play performed by Prague’s Švanda theater, in collaboration with Czech Center London, described as “telling the joys and sorrows of everyday life from a robot’s perspective”.
The AI uses the project, call GPT-2 created by OpenAI, and co-founded by Elon Musk. The algorithm generates text at the request of computer or other AI-generated sentences and is place in tasks such as generating poems and writing fake articles. On top of that, it has mixed results, generating stories that written in the style of real articles, but with a few obvious signs that not everything is right. For example, when we typed the title after hitting his mark, a man hospitalized for 9 days in a hospital with grade 4th grade; the generator (which you can try for yourself) came back with the following story:
A young man in Australia allegedly walked home from a pub and lost his temper for a while. The man, who only identified as Daniel, was too drunk to lose his erection, so his mother had to take him to the hospital to take a Viagra dose. Daniel was lying on CCTV in his hometown of Sydney, running out of breath, through the door and up the stairs to his home.

By turning its algorithm to the equivalent of a quill for composing a play, AI has shown that it is in no way ready to accept this task from man. There was a strange quality of conversation to the play, even before it was strangely sexual. In one scene, a boy tells a robot a joke, to which the robot responds: “Okay … well. When you are dead, when your kids die, even your grandchildren will live.” The argument you can make is funny from a robot’s point of view. The drama took place last week, and there are reviews, noting that it was … strangely horny.
