Underground Coal Gasification is a process for applying coal that cannot be mined because the actual seams are too deep, thin or fractured. The process involves while using the same sort connected with drilling technology usually used by fracking to get air/oxygen in to the coal seam after which set the seam on fire. UCG is an in-situ gasification process carried out in non-mined fossil fuel seams using injection of oxidants, and bringing the product or service gas to surface through production wells drilled in the surface.
