Elwyn Brooks White was awarded the 1970 Laura Ingalls Wilder Medal for his children’s books, Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web. He lived on a farm in Maine, where he found the inspiration for his books. White wrote numerous poems and essays during his life; a collection of his essays came out in 1977. Three Most Famous Books: Stuart Little; Charlotte’s Web and The Trumpet of the Swan.
