Paragraph On Teacher’s Day

“Teacher’s Day” is a special day for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honor them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general. The day is observed on different dates in different parts of the world. The tradition started in the 19th century, when countries began commemorating a local educator or a distinguished achievement, especially in the field of education. This is the main reason why Teacher’s Day is celebrated on different dates across the globe. Many countries celebrate ‘World Teachers’ Day’, established by UNESCO in 1994, on 5th October as their ‘Teachers’ Day’. World Teachers’ Day is co-convened in partnership with UNICEF, UNDP, the International Labor Organization, and Education International.

It isn’t observed as a holiday; though, both the teachers and students get a day off from regular classes. Students organize several programs in honor of their teachers. They do dance performances, sing songs, enact plays etc to entertain the teachers. The celebration isn’t necessarily grand in every educational institution (school/college/university) and varies depending on the institution and other related factors. However, thanking the teachers, presenting them with gifts/flowers is the common custom followed everywhere.

Teachers are an integral part of a society and a very essential one too. He/she is an epitome of dedication, who always thinks about the growth and welfare of his/her students. Without teachers, education would be a nearly impossible task to achieve. Therefore, celebrating ‘Teacher’s Day’ is the least we can do to commemorate the teaching community which puts persistent efforts for our growth and progress.
