Multiple cropping is the practice of growing a couple of crops in the same chunk of property during a sole growing season. It is just a form of polyculture. Usually it takes the form regarding double-cropping, in which an extra crop is planted after the first has also been harvested, or inform cropping, in which the next crop is started amidst the first crop before it is harvested.
