Manufacturing is the process of converting raw materials, components, or parts into finished goods that meet a customer’s expectations or specifications. It is also the process of making products especially with machines in factories. Manufacturing commonly employs a man-machine set-up with division of labour in a large scale production. It is usually directed toward the mass production of products for sale to consumers at a profit. Modern manufacturing includes all intermediate processes required for the production and integration of a product’s components. Some industries, such as semiconductor and steel manufacturers use the term fabrication instead.
