Principle purpose of this lecture is to present Image Compression. The goal of image compression is to reduce the amount of data required to represent a digital image. Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) encoding is used to compress pictures and graphics, Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) encoding is used to compress video, and MP3 (MPEG audio layer 3) for audio compression. Image compression is very important for image storage and image transmission.
