Cultural Materialism is a scientific research technique that prioritizes substance, behavioral and etic processes from the explanation of the evolution of people socio-cultural systems. Harris’s idea of cultural materialism was influenced from the writings of Karl Marx along with Friedrich Engels, yet is a materialism distinct by Marxist dialectical materialism, and also from philosophical materialism.
