A child’s favorite and most special day of the year is Mother’s Day. Every year on the second Sunday in May, the day is celebrated. The day is dedicated to celebrating the family’s mother, as well as motherhood, maternal ties, and mothers’ influence in society. It goes along with other family-oriented holidays including Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents Day. She is concerned with everything that a child need. She knows that she is completely responsible for her child from the moment she wakes up until she falls asleep at night. Mother’s Day is observed in many countries, including China, where carnations are a traditional Mother’s Day gift. In Samoa, some groups put on elaborate song and dance performances all over the world. They thank mothers for their contributions to Samoan society. Anna Jarvis’ efforts in the early twentieth century in the United States helped to create modern Mother’s Day. Because of Jarvis’ efforts, Woodrow Wilson, then-President of the United States, declared Mother’s Day a national holiday in 1914. With the passing of time, the festival has lost its original sense and has become more commercialized. This is the day when we express our gratitude to our mother, who has done so much for us and continues to do so. This is the day to give a lot of happiness and gratitude to the same mother who fills us with love and protects us every day.
