In honor of International Dance Day on April 29, Apple has announced the addition of new curated dance workouts and collections to Fitness+. New workouts using music from ABBA, BTS, and Queen have been added to the service’s Artist Spotlight series, which dedicates an entire exercise playlist to one artist. The service will introduce new exercises using each musician every Monday for four weeks. Strength, HIIT, dancing, treadmill, cycling, yoga, and pilates are among the fitness options.
Users will learn choreography from BTS music videos such as “Dynamite” and “Permission to Dance” in some of the new Fitness+ dance routines. Fitness+ will also include a segment of dance exercises, with six 20-minute sessions spread among playlists including Latin Grooves, Upbeat Anthems, Throwback Hits, and Hip-Hop/R&B. On April 25, the service will also debut a new exercise collection aimed at “getting users dancing any day of the year.” Apple released the collections feature in January, which is a curated set of exercises and meditations that are aimed to help people achieve their objectives.
The new dance collection will have 20 to 30 minute exercises set to music from the 1980s, hip-hop, and Latin music from across the world. Since its introduction in December 2020, Apple has been working to compete with rival subscription fitness services. Fitness+ is offered as a separate subscription for $9.99 per month or as part of the $29.95 per month Apple One Premier plan, which includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and iCloud+ with 2 TB of storage.
