The initial wave of animal geography, known since zoogeography, came to prominence being a geographic sub field from the late 1800s with the early area of the 20th century. Animal geography can be a sub field with the nature-society or human-environment part of geography in addition to a part of the bigger, interdisciplinary umbrella involving Human-Animal Studies .
